Browse collection ›The temporary exhibition “Gerstein. Heras Velasco. Simon. Artifices of metal” brings together three large sculptures from the institutional collection, created by these renowned Argentine artists.
The works on display are “Marejada” (1970), by Noemí Gerstein, recently acquired by Amigos del Bellas Artes to integrate the Museum's collection; “Transposeña” (1971), by Juana Heras Velasco; and “Box” (ca. 1967), by María Simon, both works donated by the artists themselves to the Fine Arts collection.
"The pieces that make up this exhibition were made by three Argentine sculptors both virtuous and avant-garde. Their works combine the inventiveness of formal abstraction with the physical work necessary to overcome the resistance of materials such as stainless steel and aluminum," explains Andrés Duprat, director at the Museum.
“This exhibition recognizes the influence of Gerstein, Heras Velasco and Simon in the renewal of sculptural language. But, above all, it is a tribute to their decisions, which managed to avoid the precepts that, throughout history, have conditioned the performance of women artists,” adds Duprat.
